How The Children’s Academy Came to Be
In January 2002, Christine and Robert Rosnick opened The Children’s Academy in Weirton, WV. The Children’s Academy expanded its overwhelming success with the opening of our Steubenville/Wintersville facility in November 2011. The Children’s Academy continues its distinguished reputation as an established child care center in the Ohio Valley region that is respected for its longevity and quality services.

Our Staff Credentials
Our staff all have extensive experience with a variety of early childhood education degrees. Many of our staff have been with us since the first academy opened more than 20 years ago! The Children’s Academy’s success is attributed to the talented and devoted staff in each of our classrooms. They do not hesitate to seek out and attend relevant training, workshops, and literature that will enhance their teaching performance and success.
All of our staff possess Bachelor and Associate degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Director Accreditation, as well as additional early childhood accreditations via ACDS and annual continuing education mandates. Because we possess a Tier II state performance accreditation, all staff is required to attend a minimum of 18 hours of ongoing training annually. Our staff is also background checked by the FBI, maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications, receives child abuse and neglect continuing education, and meets the medicine administration requirements.
Staff is evaluated annually and receive competitive wages and benefits for satisfactory job performance and continuing education. We are currently utilizing the TIPITOS and TPOT observational staff evaluation for social, emotional, and behavioral skills within the classroom.
Testimonials
Due to this developmental-focused structure…my daughter started her school-aged journey with a very strong and advanced foundation.
“My daughter has been attending The Children’s Academy since she was three months of age. Each stage, from the infant room to Pre-K, follows a special curriculum focused on educational and developmental goals. Basically, my daughter has been in ‘school’ since before she was mobile. Due to this developmental-focused structure in even their general daycare programming (in addition to their amazing preschool program), my daughter started her school-aged journey with a very strong and advanced foundation. The advantage of having a strong educational foundation became more evident while my daughter started her school-aged journey during the pandemic. With school closures and remote learning transitions, so many parents, including myself, have worried about the implication such has had on our children’s overall education and growth; however, due to the excellent foundation established with The Children’s Academy, my daughter has adjusted well to the inconsistencies brought on by the pandemic that she continues to be very advanced academically and is thriving.”
My children are thriving, and I have The Children's Academy to thank for that.
I couldn't have asked for greater role models to impact my daughter's life.
The amazing teachers at The Children's Academy have become our family.
They have become such a valuable and consistent part of our life.
The Children's Academy truly has been a blessing to my family and me.
We would 100% recommend The Children’s Academy to any family looking for child care options in our area!

”Nana’s” Testimonial
Where do I begin? There are no words to express our heartfelt appreciation for all that The Children’s Academy does for families needing safe, comfortable, and educational services for their children.
I was honored to become a CA family member from 2015 to the present. During the pre-pandemic period, I was permitted to visit my granddaughter often and participate in the children’s educational and community activities. I was truly impressed with the teaching techniques, level of education, and care the children received. With open arms, I was lovingly accepted into the CA family and known as ‘Nana’ for 6-8 children, staff, and administration.
Since my office was within the same area as CA, for several years, we coordinated Halloween walks/visits so the children could show off their costumes and receive ‘goodies’ throughout the entire building. Such a joy to see these young ones with the caregivers enjoying a community event.
My involvement with CA was not only personal but also led to a more professional experience. CA permitted several young people with disabilities to participate in a project my agency provided. These young people who were interested in early childcare were given the opportunity to shadow and learn the proper techniques for caring for children through a professional venue. A few of these consumers went on to be trained in early childcare.
We have been truly blessed to be part of an impressive, professional, caring, and educational culture that permits our children to be safe and thrive in a loving environment.
Thank you, The Children’s Academy!
Yours forever, Nana!
